Famous Athletes Immortalized
Teams from all leagues will often pay respects to famous athletes, coaches and sports figures by immortalizing them as statues. A statue stands the test of time, just as the person’s legacy the statue represents does.
Most statues are constructed after a player or coach’s career is finished. There are always a few exceptions though. The following were erected during the person’s career: Bobby Bowden’s statue outside of Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee, Craig Biggio’s statue at Minute Maid Park in Houston, and Michael Jordan’s statue at the United Center (below).
