Golf’s next generation prodigy has arrived!

The world’s greatest golfer and most popular athlete introduced a new addition to his family yesterday morning. Tiger and Elin Woods now have a foursome with the new edition of their son, Charlie.

“Elin and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, Charlie Axel Woods, who was born on Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009. Both Charlie and Elin are doing great and we want to thank everyone for their sincere best wishes and kind thoughts. Sam is very excited to be a big sister and we feel truly blessed to have such a wonderful family. We look forward to introducing Charlie to you at the appropriate time.”

Tiger Woods is only 5 major victories away from becoming the all-time major championship leader. My guess is he will tie Jack Nicklaus by the end of 2010 and take the lead in 2011. If Woods has stayed healthy through 2008, he would have had a greater chance to eclipse Nicklaus sooner.

It’s still hard to comprehend just how good Tiger Woods is. He only played in 6 events in 2008. He won 4 of them and finished 2nd on the money list, behind only Vijay Singh who played 23 events! No one else in the top 150 in 2008 earnings played in single digit events.

Tiger has yet to announce his official return to golf, but people are saying the end of February is possible. He won’t step foot on the course unless he thinks he can win.
