Wooo Hooo!

We are now a part of the hip, socially-driven world thanks to our recent decision to join Twitter. Our username is @SFanatics so if you’re already on there, be sure to start following us. Those who do will get instant updates on arrivals, special promotions, and contests. Plus you’ll be in the loop on new trends, surf event updates, and much more.

For those who are not quite sure what Twitter is, here is a quick lowdown. It is a free service that allows you to stay connected with friends, family, interest groups, and others through “tweets” or posts that answers one question: “What are you doing?”. Although it may seem like more with all the hype, it’s really that simple. Our sister store Football Fanatics is on there also. They tweet throughout games commenting on plays and players, and special events such as the Draft or college spring football scrimmages.

Join today, we would be honored to be your first follower!

Ttly (Tweet to you later).

UFC President Dana White was not happy after the latest UFC 97 in Montreal. A lot of fans were upset with Anderson “The Spider” Silva’s performance. Silva is regarded by many as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world. White wanted to make sure he could deliver an opponent that is fierce and aggressive. Someone who will bring excitement into the cage with Silva. Enter ex-light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin.

“It’s a great fight for him and he’s anxious and excited about it,” Soares (Silva’s manager) said. “Forrest is a bigger, stronger guy with a lot of cardio and he’s the full package. The other thing Anderson likes about it is that Forrest is a big name with a huge heart and is a fan favorite kind of a guy. That’s the kind of match that makes a legendary kind of a fight and that’s what Anderson wants.”

Silva vs. Griffin will be the co-main event of UFC 101 in Philadelphia on August 8, 2009. The other co-main event is a lightweight title fight between B.J. Penn and No. 1 contender Kenny Florian. This could be one of the most viewed UFC events in history. There’s a lot of star power to go along with the Silva drama.

If the Chicago Bulls didn’t have Derrick Rose, would they be battling the Boston Celtics in the playoffs right now? As only a rookie, Derrick Rose has already shown his worth to the Bulls by racking up 16.8 ppg, 6.3 apg and 80 starts for Chicago in the 2008-2009. It was also enough for the NBA to name Rose their Rookie of the Year.

Rose is a 6′3″ point guard who played one season of college basketball for Memphis. He was named to the All-Final Four team after averaging 20.8 points, 6.5 rebounds and 6 assists during the tourney. Rose left early for the NBA and became the first pick of the 2008 NBA Draft. Judging by his performance this year, I’d say he made the right move. Rose looks like a future superstar in the league and perennial all-star.

Show your support for 2009’s NBA Rookie of the Year, #1 Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, with this graphic tee by adidas!

The 2009 NFL Draft is in the books and teams are scrambling now to sign undrafted free agents (the Jaguars have signed 18 of them today!) The first round of the draft was very exciting… we saw the New York Jets trade up into the 5th spot to grab franchise quarterback Mark Sanchez. We also saw Michael Crabtree, who many experts pegged as the most talented player in the draft, fall to San Francisco at No. 10. The rest of the top 10 played out like:

1 (1) Lions Stafford, Matthew QB 6′2″ 225 Georgia
2 (2) Rams Smith, Jason OT 6′5″ 309 Baylor
3 (3) Chiefs Jackson, Tyson DE 6′4″ 295 LSU
4 (4) Seahawks Curry, Aaron OLB 6′2″ 254 Wake Forest
5 (5) Jets (From Browns) Sanchez, Mark QB 6′2″ 227 Southern Cal
6 (6) Bengals Smith, Andre OT 6′4″ 332 Alabama
7 (7) Raiders Heyward-Bey, Darrius WR 6′2″ 210 Maryland
8 (8) Jaguars Monroe, Eugene OT 6′5″ 309 Virginia
9 (9) Packers Raji, B.J. DT 6′2″ 337 Boston College
10 (10) 49ers Crabtree, Michael WR 6′2″ 215 Texas Tech

Football Fanatics is proud to bring you the 2009 NFL Draft jerseys from several of the top players. You can order draft jerseys today, however they won’t ship for 2-3 weeks because we don’t know what numbers the players will wear. We have draft jerseys for the following players:

Yesterday afternoon the Jacksonville Jaguars unveiled their new identity, which includes a new logo and uniform. Over the years the Jaguars have added new color combinations, logo placements, etc… well, during the conference yesterday, Wayne Weaver (owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars) said the team had lost it’s identity. The new logo and uniforms bring back a classic look that will stand the test of time.

“There will no longer be mixtures of black and teal or all black,” Weaver said in describing the new uniform look. “So when people see the Jaguars on television, that’s who we are. So I’m excited about that. I’m also excited about what we did with our logo. We think we’ve taken our logo and tweaked it in a way that it gives it a little bit of a modern flair but still a classic look, and one that we think will stand the test of time.”

In addition to the new jerseys and pants, the Jaguars also unveilved a new helmet… the first of it’s kind.

“We’re making a little bit of history today,” said Rick Salomone of JDSU as he described the new technology in the helmet paint scheme. “The first time ever for any NFL helmet, we’re adding an optical element to the helmet that is in the form of a chromatic pigment that gives it its light glitter and mirror-like effect. This is something that was born out of the automotive industry when designers and color engineers were working on it, and the challenge for us wasn’t could we create that look but how do we shape these little micron-size flakes in such a way that it would stand the durability and the impact over and over again in a long grueling season?”

Pretty cool, huh?

Be one of the first fans to own the new Jacksonville Jaguars jersey. We currently have in-stock jerseys for David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew, Daryl Smith, Derrick Harvey, Tra Thomas, Reggie Nelson, Rashean Mathis, Justin Durant and Greg Jones.
