Can you believe college basketball has already started? Sometimes I get so wrapped up in football that basketball seems to slide under the radar until the Super Bowl is over. I live in SEC Country, so you can probably understand why football dominates all sports down here. Those of you in the Northeast or ACC Country likely have college hoops in your blood.

The AP Top 25 sees a lot of familiar teams near the top. We have:
No. 1 Kansas
No. 2 Michigan State
No. 3 Texas
No. 4 Kentucky
No. 5 Villanova
No. 6 North Carolina
No. 9 Duke

All of these teams had a shot at the title last year and are eying their chance at glory in 2010. I know the Kentucky Wildcats are one of those love/hate teams (like the Yankees in MLB), but as a college basketball fan you have to admit it’s nice seeing them in the Top 5. UK has been down for the past few years, but now they have a new coach in Calipari and they have a superstar player in John Wall.

I’m looking forward to sitting down on the coach tonight and watching college basketball. The No. 6 ranked North Carolina Tar Heels take on the No. 15 Ohio State Buckeyes in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic tonight at Madison Square Garden. Don’t be surprised if we see UNC get upset. Evan Turner of the OSU Buckeyes is a tremendous player. He’s averaging 19 PPG, 17 Rebounds and 7 Assists. Good luck stopping that!
