Dallas Cowboys Roll on Thanksgiving

The Dallas Cowboys, along with the Detroit Lions, play football every year on Thanksgiving – it’s become part of America’s yearly tradition. Tonight the Dallas Cowboys hosted the Oakland Raiders in front of 85,000 fans. The Cowboys were favored to win the game by 13.5. The bookies got this one wrong because the Cowboys won by a final score of 24-7.

If my memory serves me correct, the Cowboys have now won four Thanksgiving Day games in a row (maybe five). Tony Romo has been spectacular on Thanksgiving – including today when he threw for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns. But it wasn’t all on Tony Romo, the Cowboys running game was clicking all day. Felix Jones, Marion Barber and Choice all had over 60 yards rushing including several runs of 40+.

Miles Austin had a big game with 7 receptions for 145 yards and a touchdown. He was exremely hot about a month ago then sizzled off for a few games, but not it looks like Romo has his man back. Jason Witten proved again why he is one of the best tight ends in the NFL. He had 5 receptions for 107 yards.

The Cowboys defense played well by holding the Raiders to only 7 points, though they didn’t create any turnovers – something I thought they would do against Brad Gradkowski. The Cowboys are now 8-3 and in prime position for some homefield playoff games. They just need to finish the season strong.
