V's D has dominated a conference in which the emphasis is on the run (a lot like the SEC conference of old). While that should support your guess, the problem is that this year Montana has emphasized the running game with decent success. If Montana pushes the run in this game, it'll be playing right into V's strength. V also runs a 3-3-5 defense (like a nickel package with considerably more blitzing) which the Griz haven't seen this year. For the passing game to work, Selle, the griz quarterback, will have to have an incredible quick learning curve. If the griz can concentrate on the pass and figure out the defense, it'll be a blow out. If not, it'll be a low scoring game and V will have a slight advantage. The bookmakers are betting that the griz run or don't figure out the defense. V is favored by 2 points. that said, bet on the griz. this team is on a roll and it'll take V everything it's got to win.
