College Bowl Matchups and Championship Gear

30 December 2009 Posted by David 2,327 views No Comment

The 2009-2010 College Football Bowl Season has already begun with several of the small bowls kicking off in late December. The major bowls and BCS Games are just a few days away and you know Football Fanatics is getting ready for them. Like in years past, we will have championship apparel for most of the bowl game winners. In today’s post let’s take a look at some of the college football bowl matchups.

I’m looking forward to the following games:

Gator Bowl
Florida State Seminoles vs. West Virginia Mountaineers
This is a big game because it is played in Jacksonville (where we are headquartered) and it is also Bobby Bowden’s final game as the head coach at Florida State. In addition to that, he’ll be coaching it against WVU – the team he coached prior to FSU back in the 1970s.

Sugar Bowl
Florida Gators vs. Cincinnati Bearcats
Who won’t be watching Tim Tebow’s final college game? This game also has a lot of hype around it because of Urban Meyer’s leave of absence that starts following the game’s conclusion. Cincinnati is undefeated and wants to prove that they can beat the big boys.

Orange Bowl
Iowa Hawkeyes vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech ran through the ACC very easily this year. They’ll face one tough opponent in the Iowa Hawkeyes who were very close to winning the Big Ten. I’m intrigued by this game because I love watching GA Tech run the ball with their triple wishbone offense.

Rose Bowl
Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Oregon Ducks
I think this is the first time the Oregon Ducks will be playing in the Rose Bowl. Don’t quote me on that though – I didn’t do the research. The Buckeyes on the other hand seem to be in the Rose Bowl every year. They know what to expect. This is going to be a very good game filled with talented athletes.

Fiesta Bowl
Boise State Broncos vs. TCU Horned Frogs
The Fiesta Bowl is a matchup between two non-BCS teams. Will people watch it? I think so – they’ll want to see how these two smaller schools perform on the big stage. The best thing going for this game is that it’s a battle between two undefeated teams. Only one will complete the perfect season.

National Championship
Alabama Crimson Tide vs. Texas Longhorns
I’ll get into this matchup in another day or two. I want to dedicate an entire post to the game.
