NFL Playoff Weekend: AFC Preview

14 January 2010 Posted by David 510 views No Comment

We are just a few days away from the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs. Last weekend we saw the New York Jets upset the Cincinnati Bengals, the Baltimore Ravens upset the New England Patriots and the Arizona Cardinals score on a huge play in overtime to beat the Packers. You couldn’t ask for much more in a Wildcard round of the playoffs. Will this weekend’s games keep fans excited and on the edge of their seats? In today’s post we’ll take a look at the two AFC games and tomorrow I will preview the two NFC games.

There will be two AFC playoff games played this weekend, one on Saturday and the other on Sunday.

Baltimore Ravens vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Ravens upset the Pats last weekend and their defense looked like the defense of 2001. The Ravens will definitely have their hands full again this week when the face Peyton Manning, who happens to be the NFL’s MVP this year. The Colts are as dominating on offense as they have been in years. They’re playing at home in the dome and the fans will have that place rocking. I think Flacco will struggle in a hostile, indoor environment. The Colts won’t light the Ravens up, but I can see them winning 24-14.

New York Jets vs. San Diego Chargers
I don’t like predicting blowouts, especially in the playoffs, but I don’t see any way the New York Jets can beat the San Diego Chargers. Philip Rivers and the Chargers offense is so dang good. I know Revis is the man and will probably shut down Vincent Jackson, but no way they can stop Gates and Tomlinson/Sproles. Mark Sanchez may become a good QB in a few years, but he’s still a rookie and will struggle against a tough San Diego defense. I predict the Chargers to win 28-10.
