Remembering Michael Clifton – You’ll Always Be On Our Team

11 February 2010 Posted by Addie 3,633 views 3 Comments

Football Fanatics lost a valued employee and friend last week when Michael Clifton, our Creative Director, passed away. Mike was the guy in the office who could always make you laugh with his quick comebacks and wit. He was immensely creative and you could always count on him to get the job done. He knew how to execute your ideas better than you could imagine and would stop what he was doing to help you in a crunch. Mike was responsible for many of the designs on our website and was integral in the development of the Football Fanatics brand. We wanted to take this time to share some photos of Mike, celebrate his life and impact, and pay tribute to a wonderful coworker and friend.

If you knew Mike, we encourage you to please  share a story or favorite memory in the comments.

Some things I’ll miss about Mike:

His talent, and his ability to interpret what you wanted the screen to look like even if you couldn’t explain it very well.

I don’t watch the news much. Every time Mike opened his web browser it was on the Yahoo homepage. A cubicle row away is where I would hear Mike broadcast and comment on the top headlines of the day.

Another thing Mike did were these voices – mostly poking fun at current or past coworkers. I’ll miss those voices and the running jokes and comments that went with them.

Lastly, poker nights will not be the same without Cliffy. I sat next to him the last time we played poker and I’ll probably remember the conversations, the bad beats, and the pot we split for a long time to come.

I will definitely miss those voices and the jokes of former employees. His photoshop creations of employees with call-outs saying crazy things…funny stuff!

I didn’t know Clifton for long, only about 8 months but one thing does stick out at me. I had been working at FF for about 3-4 months and my wife came to visit. We went out to eat and saw Clifton and another co worker Tom eating there also. Knowing that I was pretty new around here, Clifton being the outspoken and friendly guy he was, called us over and invited us to have lunch with them. He then went on telling us stories about his past trips around the world and where he wanted to go, he was full of energy, the life of the table. When we heard the news of his passing my wife was very sad even though she only met him once and her, myself and my mother said several prayers for him and his family.
