Your Stanford Cardinal pulled it off with an amazing showing against the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the 2012 NIT in Madison Square Garden. After narrowly avoiding OT losses to Ole Miss and Illinois State in the 1st and 2nd rounds of the tournament, respectively, the Cardinal slammed Nevada 84-56 in the NIT quarterfinals and defeated UMass to advance to the finals against Minnesota. A 2012 NIT Championship was not in the cards for the Golden Gophers, though. Stanford took the lead early on, with an Aaron Bright 3-point jumper with 5:28 left in the first half, and they never trailed again.
