The Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees will meet in the World Series on Wednesday the 28th. The Phillies clinched the NLCS against the LA Dodgers, and the Yankees clinched the ALCS in a series win against the Angels. This marks only the 2nd time in the last 8 years that a wild card team hasn’t advanced to the World Series.
Game 1 of the World Series will feature two of baseball’s best pitchers, Cliff Lee and C.C. Sabathia – the ALCS MVP. Both teams have explosive offenses, but I think the Phillies have the better pitching staff. The Phillies have also had more time to rest since they wrapped up the NLCS last week. Because the AL won the All-Star game back in July, the Yankees will have home field advantage.
Check out this Yankees ALCS Champs video we made featuring some great products:

Week 2 of the college football season is officially in the books. Once again we saw a Top 5 team go down, this time it was Oklahoma State losing to unranked Houston 45-35. Texas Longhorn fans also has a scare heading into halftime of their game against Wyoming. The Longhorns were only ahead by a score of 13-10… though they ultimately won the game by a final score of 41-10.
The biggest game of the weekend was without question the No. 3 USC Trojans vs. the No. 8 OSU Buckeyes. The Buckeyes were winning the game in the 4th quarter, but a late touchdown drive by Trojan QB Barkley sealed the Buckeyes fate. The Trojans moved to 2-0 with a score of 18-15 over the Buckeyes… and Ohio State once again proved they can’t win the big game.
Other exciting games from the weekend include the Notre Dame Fighting Irish vs. the Michigan Wolverines and the South Carolina Gamecocks vs. the Georgia Bulldogs. Both games were high scoring affairs and in both instances the home team was victorious. Georgia needed a win in the worst way. Starting the season off 0-2 would have devastated their fans. Michigan’s win over Notre Dame moved them into the Top 25… a place they haven’t sniffed in a long time.
Celebrate your team’s victory with an official score tee from Football Fanatics. Score tees are available for purchase seconds after select games every weekend. Visit the score tee page to see if your team is available.

College Football kicked off last night with almost a dozen games. The featured game was the No. 16 Oregon Ducks vs. the No. 14 Boise State Broncos. I expected this game to be a high scoring shootout. What we got was a hard-nosed, low scoring affair. The Broncos were leading 13-0 at the half and finished the Ducks off with a 19-8 victory. Broncos fans can get their official score tees are Football Fanatics.
The big story coming out of the game is Oregon running back LeGarrette Blount punching Boise State Byron Hout in the face. It was a cheap shot… Hout wasn’t even looking and it came after the game was over. Hout didn’t even have his helmet on. “I just apologize to anyone watching that,” Blount said. “I just apologize to all of our fans and all of Boise’s fans. That’s something I shouldn’t have done. I lost my head.”
I can understand why Oregon players were frustrated. Their offense was horrible the entire game. The Ducks didn’t get a first down until the 3rd quarter and they only had 152 yards of total offense. I can’t imagine that’s how the Ducks wanted to start their 2009 season.
What did you think of the punch? Should the player be suspended? If so, for how long?
Over the past week we’ve brough in some hot selling NFL Jerseys. It’s no coincidence that controversial players drive higher sales. Both Michael Vick’s Eagles jersey and Brett Favre’s Packers jersey are highly coveted among football fans. Whether you love them or hate them, these two guys are some of the most visible players in the game and their names drive sales.
It led me to think: what is my favorite jersey? Even though Fred Taylor is no longer on the Jacksonville Jaguars, his #28 teal jersey is still the favorite jersey I own. Earlier this morning, I asked the Football Fanatics twitter following what their favorite jerseys are. Here are a few replies:
@tcms12 – “My #84 Randy Moss Vikings Jersey or my Red #27 Eddie George Titans jersey”
