The Fanatics Photos month of May winner has been crowned. May’s theme was Mother’s Day. Jessica is a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and can be seen photographed in a black jersey accompanied by a couple of face tattoos. Jessica has won a $100 online gift certificate to Football Fanatics. Maybe a brand new Ben Roethlisberger jersey is in her future.

I hit up Jacksonville Beach two weekends ago to cover Life Rolls On Foundation’s “They Will Surf Again” event. It was an amazing event put on by dozens of volunteers. These volunteers assisted the handicapped in paddling out to the break and riding waves back to the shore. They gave people a chance to feel the thrill of surfing. It was truly a great event to see and I’m glad I got a chance to shoot some video to share with you. Check it out!

The Detroit Red Wings won the 2009 NHL Western Conference last night in a 4-1 series win over the Chicago Blackhawks. The Red Wings are the currently Stanley Cup holders and are eyeing a chance to repeat. They will have a tough matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins, but I think Detroit is up to the challenge. The Pittsburgh Penguins defeated the Carolina Hurricanes last night 4-1 to advance to the 2009 NHL Stanley Cup Finals. The Penguins swept the series and have now won the Eastern Conference four times since 1990. Carolina had no answers for the intensity and skill of the Penguins. “We forced them to play our way,” Pittsburgh defensemen Brooks Orpik said. “We played Philadelphia, Washington and Carolina (in the playoffs) and to me it was three different styles of teams, but we didn’t do much adjusting I don’t think. We made those teams play the way we wanted to play.”

The Syracuse Orange are 2009 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse National Champions. Syracuse cut a 9-6 deficit to 9-8 with 2:48 to play. They scored the last four goals of the overtime game against Cornell, securing their place as repeat champions. Almost 42,000 fans were in attendance in Foxorough, Massachusetts for the big game. College football could be headed to new home of the New York Yankees. The old Yankee stadium hosted some of the greatest moments in early college football. I know the Yankees are hurting for revenue right now (I guess the $14 hot dogs can only bring in so much) because they can’t sell premium seats… so why not host a football game?
