The hottest NFL Jersey of the season came out of left-field as the 49ers Colin Kaepernick Jersey has become the must-have NFL clothing item of the year. Leading up to the 2013 Super Bowl, Colin Kaepernick’s Jersey has found it tough to stay on shelves and stocked for retailers, as customers want a piece of NFL’s current celebrity. It’s not just jerseys, though, as Colin Kaepernick T-Shirts are also in high-demand. In fact, the 49ers new starting QB even has his own meme. “Kaepernicking,” as it’s become known, is when the quarterback pretends to plant a kiss on his right bicep after scoring a touchdown.

A Brief Kaepernick History

When San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Alex Smith went out with a concussion against the Chicago Bears last year, Colin Kaepernick took over – and he hasn’t been a back-up since. Many have been surprised by the sudden success of Kaepernick, but if you look at his college stats, it really shouldn’t surprise anyone at all:

Kaepernick was the first player in NCAA history to record back-to-back 2,000/1,000 yard seasons.

He’s also the only Division 1 FBS quarterback to have passed for more than 2,000 yards and rushed for more than 1,000 yards in a single season three times in a career (consecutively).

Also, Colin Kapernick is the only quarterback in the history of Division I FBS college football to have passed for more than 10,000 yards and rushed for more than 4,000 yards.

Even with amazing records like those, Kaepernick was still the sixth quarterback selected in the 2011 NFL Draft; taken after quarterbacks Jake Locker and Blaine Gabbert.
For Kaepernick, the records didn’t stop after college:

In his first career postseason start, his 181 rushing yards set an NFL single-game record, breaking Michael Vick’s 2002 regular season game of 173.

Kaepernick also broke the 49ers postseason rushing record, regardless of position.

Keep in mind; these two milestones occurred in just his first nine starts. So, what does the future hold for Colin Kaepernick and the rest of the San Francisco 49ers? A 2013 Super Bowl win? It’s anyone’s guess. But, for right now, there’s no player hotter and no jersey being sold faster than the Colin Kaepernick Jersey.

Heading into the third week of the regular 2010 NFL season, more than likely you’ve had a chance to evaluate whether or not you regret some of the players you drafted for your fantasy team. However, there’s no need to give up so early. There’s still three plus months you have to pull your team together and make it to your league playoffs. And with the combination of any of these top ten ranked players on your roster such as Chris Johnson, Frank Gore, or Peyton Manning, the points will surely keep increasing.

If you’ve been watching the NFL this year, odds are you’ve seen some funky uniforms. This is the 50th anniversary of the AFL so a lot of teams are wearing their throwback AFL uniforms. It was awesome seeing Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans wearing an old Houston Oilers uniform. One of the craziest uniforms of the year were the ones the Denver Broncos wore a few weeks ago. They had these ugly brown jerseys and crazy black and white socks. Let’s take a look at some new alternate jerseys I’d like to see.

Please note: I made these in photoshop :-) They aren’t real.

Over the past week we’ve brough in some hot selling NFL Jerseys. It’s no coincidence that controversial players drive higher sales. Both Michael Vick’s Eagles jersey and Brett Favre’s Packers jersey are highly coveted among football fans. Whether you love them or hate them, these two guys are some of the most visible players in the game and their names drive sales.

It led me to think: what is my favorite jersey? Even though Fred Taylor is no longer on the Jacksonville Jaguars, his #28 teal jersey is still the favorite jersey I own. Earlier this morning, I asked the Football Fanatics twitter following what their favorite jerseys are. Here are a few replies:

@tcms12 – “My #84 Randy Moss Vikings Jersey or my Red #27 Eddie George Titans jersey”

@sf49lu – Alex Smith #11 jersey lol

@TruPittFan – 36 bettis Steelers jersey

@OH2FL2DC – The Browns’ own hometown hero~ #19, Bernie Kosar! Still have an old school jersey of his.

Be sure to following Football Fanatics on twitter @FFanatics for up to the minute sports news, product information, contests and more!
