Twitter is becoming a great source for blog content. Through our 1,700+ followers, we are able to communicate directly with sports fans. It’s almost like live polling, without the anonymous factor. Today I asked the @FFanatics twitter followers: Which do you prefer to watch on TV… college or NFL football?
The response was overwhelmingly in favor of NFL football. @polo12player said “the NFL is the greatest sport of all time! The NEW America’s favorite pastime!” and @tcms12 said “NFL…College gets uninteresting as soon as one team starts blowing out the other…Not many blowouts in NFL.”
I am of the opinion that NFL football is a better television product. I can sit down and watch the Colts vs. Patriots play on a Sunday afternoon even though I have no rooting interest. This may or may not have to do with the Fantasy Football revolution. With college football, I tend to only watch games that are important to me: like Florida Gator games. There aren’t many Saturday afternoons that I will sit and watch a Oregon State vs. Arizona State game, but I am always willing to watch any NFL game… even the 0-16 Lions.
There were a few Twitter replies though that supported college football, but overall the consensus agreed that they prefer to watch NFL football on TV. Tomorrow, I might ask which do they prefer to watch live in a stadium? The results could be flipped.

Week 1 of the NFL Preseason starts in a mere 2 days. We had the Hall of Fame game last Sunday, but that doesn’t really count. Thursday night, ESPN will broadcast a Super Bowl rematch with the Arizona Cardinals playing the Pittsburgh Steelers in Pittsburgh. Football fans everywhere will tune in to watch this game, not because of the hoopla surrounding Big Ben, but because it’s football! we don’t need any other reason.
So we’ll have four games Thursday night, four more on Friday night, six on Saturday and two Monday Night Football games. What I like about the preseason is that the NFL tries to schedule regional games. It’s very rare for you to see a team like Seattle play Miami in the preseason. They try to keep the travel time down.
Another thing I like about the preseason is you get to scout rookies and second team guys that wouldn’t normally get a chance to play. This comes in handy for Fantasy Football, especially in keeper leagues. We know what guys like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady can do in the regular season, so if they don’t play much in the preseason it’s no big deal. But we’ll find out how guys like Beanie Wells and Josh Freeman might perform.
What do you think of the NFL Preseason? Do you like it at 4 games or should it be cut down to 3 or 2? Do you plan on going to any of the games?

When working for Football Fanatics you might expect to see employees wearing a jersey to work… after all, we have a great selection of NFL Jerseys. So today I noticed Zeke is wearing a Greg Jennings Green Bay Packer jersey. Not only is Zeke our resident sports guru here in the office, but he’s also one of the biggest Green Bay Packers fans. I decided to test his team knowledge in today’s edition of “Stump Zeke.”

Yesterday afternoon the Jacksonville Jaguars unveiled their new identity, which includes a new logo and uniform. Over the years the Jaguars have added new color combinations, logo placements, etc… well, during the conference yesterday, Wayne Weaver (owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars) said the team had lost it’s identity. The new logo and uniforms bring back a classic look that will stand the test of time.
“There will no longer be mixtures of black and teal or all black,” Weaver said in describing the new uniform look. “So when people see the Jaguars on television, that’s who we are. So I’m excited about that. I’m also excited about what we did with our logo. We think we’ve taken our logo and tweaked it in a way that it gives it a little bit of a modern flair but still a classic look, and one that we think will stand the test of time.”
In addition to the new jerseys and pants, the Jaguars also unveilved a new helmet… the first of it’s kind.
“We’re making a little bit of history today,” said Rick Salomone of JDSU as he described the new technology in the helmet paint scheme. “The first time ever for any NFL helmet, we’re adding an optical element to the helmet that is in the form of a chromatic pigment that gives it its light glitter and mirror-like effect. This is something that was born out of the automotive industry when designers and color engineers were working on it, and the challenge for us wasn’t could we create that look but how do we shape these little micron-size flakes in such a way that it would stand the durability and the impact over and over again in a long grueling season?”
Pretty cool, huh?
Be one of the first fans to own the new Jacksonville Jaguars jersey. We currently have in-stock jerseys for David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew, Daryl Smith, Derrick Harvey, Tra Thomas, Reggie Nelson, Rashean Mathis, Justin Durant and Greg Jones.

The 2009 NFL Draft is coming up in just a few weeks. I love draft time. You get to see your favorite college football players “graduate” to the next level… all the while hoping your team lands a their next super star.
A lot of fans have Draft Day parties, or head down to a local sports bar to watch the action unfold. If you’re one of those die-hard NFL fans, you must pick up your teams Draft Day Hat.
Football Fanatics just got in 2009 Reebok Draft Day Flex Fit Hats for all 32 teams. We also have youth sizes for your youngsters. I love the new style of this year’s hat. You’ve got the classic white Cowboys hat with the blue star, but then you also has a black Colts hat and a green Seahawks hat.
You can pick one of these hats up for only $24.95 (or $21.95 youth size).

About Reggie Bush
Reggie Bush will be entering his fourth year in the NFL this 2009 season. He was drafted by the Saints with the No. 2 overall pick. He hasn’t quite lived up to the No. 2 pick, but he’s been productive in rushing, receiving and returning kicks. For his career Bush is averaging 11 carries a game with a 3.7 ypc, 77 receptions per season, and has 20 total touchdowns.
Bush will be given every opportunity to show his value this year. The Saints just release long-time running back Duece McAllister, who had been sharing the load with bush the past few years. Now it’s Reggie’s time to shine. All eyes will be on him to see if he can be an every down back. Injuries have limited him the past two years, so staying healthy will be vital for his success. If Reggie can be a pro-bowl type back in 2009, he’ll see a nice contract extension from the Saints.

About Brandon Marshall
Brandon Marshall is one of the most talented wide receivers in the NFL. He is a beast at 6’4″ 230 lbs. Marshall is blazing fast, one of the top five WRs in YAC and only 24 years old. A lot of experts compare him to Terrel Owens.
There’s no question Marshall has TO type talent, but his off the field issues are something of a concern. Brandon has been arrested something like 4 times since coming into the league in 2006. He was suspended for 3 games (reduced to 1) last year for his conduct and just last week was arrested in Atlanta for disorderly conduct. The charges were dropped, but that doesn’t clear him from a possible suspension by the league.
If Brandon Marshall can keep his head on straight, he could be a Hall of Fame wide receiver.
